The solution over communication issue.

As written on 20/01/2010.

To control the class, I decided to check on my students, about how many of them able to communicate in Malay and English languange per class, and the result shocked me.

Standard 1 (5 students)
2 student understand and able to reply, 1 understand but cannot reply the rest do not understand Malay or English.

Standard 2 (15 students)
3 students understand and able to reply, 2 understand but cannot reply and the rest (13 students) do not understand Malay or English at all. (They speak Tamil even to me).

Standard 3 (18 students)
4 students understand and able to reply, 3 understand but cannot reply and the rest unable to understand Malay and English language.

Standard 4 ( 11 students)
4 students understand and able to reply, 4 understand but can not reply and the rest can not undertand Malay and English at all.

Standard 5 (14 students)
5 students understand and able to reply, 3 can understand but can not reply and the rest can not understand Malay or English language.

Standard 6 (18 students)
5 students understand and able to reply, the rest understand Malay and English but can not reply.

The conclusion is only 28% of the students in SJKT Ladang getah able to communicate in Bahasa Melayu and English, 26.8% can understand a little bit but can reply (if they do I can not understand) and 45.2% can not communicate in Malay or English at all.

Based on the graph I divided each class into few small group and chose one mentor to each group to control them. The mentors are students that able to communicate well in Malay and English language so I can communicate with them.

So far my class goes a little bit smooth with this small group idea.

Communication Problem

I was instructed to start my classes by Ms GB on 5th January 2010, second day of school. School gave me the timetable. I got class from Monday to Thursday. Standard 2 class was on Monday, standard 5 on Tuesday, on Wednesday I got 3 classes (Standard 1, 3 and 4) and on Thursday I have standard 6.

My main problem in SJKT Ladang Getah is communication.

I was briefly explained that students in Ladang Getah can communicate well in Malay langguage and English. But unfortunately the students can't speak or understand both langguages.

After 2 weeks I realize all of my classes are hard to control, even after I instructed them to shut up and pay attention on me. I almost gave up. then I noticed everytime I bump to a student, they will wrongly wish me 'selamat tengahhari' pada waktu pagi or 'selamat petang' pada waktu tengahari. The worst is one of my student wish me 'selamat malam' pada waktu tengahari. In class if they want to go to toilet they will say 'teacher I baaroom' which is they want to say 'teacher I want to go to bathroom'. If they want to drink, they say 'teacher water' actually they want to say 'teacher I want to drink'.

Theft cable

SJKT Ladang Getah now facing serious problem on theft cable matter. In month of January alone the line was cut 5 times. School was out of reach due on this issue. According to TRP Kuarters folks, theft cable happened in this area for so many years and that was the reason many cut TM lines (including streamyx) and prefered to use handphones and broadband.
